The Pad Presents:PALMA VIOLETS // Childhood // The Jebs

Friday 26th October – Bedford Esquires

They’re on the front cover of next week’s NME, but if you can’t wait til then, check out our preview of the Palma Violets’ gig in Bedford at the end of October.  Tickets available now. Check out the October issue of The Bedford Clanger for more info.

For a long time if you wanted to hear the most exciting new band in Britain, you knocked on a tall black door off the Lambeth Road (that’s in London, folks). An aging British Rail building – part art studio happening, part squat – Studio 180 was where south London’s Palma Violets were gestating, away from sunlight and the world at large. A thrilling rock’n’roll four piece were holed-up here writing songs “their friends could dance to” and occasionally putting on celebratory, ecstatic parties about which word quickly spread.

Palma Violets are Sam Fryer (vocals/guitar), Chilli Jesson (vocals/bass), Pete Mayhew (keyboard) and Will Doyle (drums).

There is not much more we can tell you about Palma Violets that those in the know won’t already have heard – they’re being talked about in the same breath as some of the biggest bands in the world, just check out some of their recent Live reviews to see why the music press is getting ever so excited. Their debut single ‘Best of Friends’ has been made ‘Hottest Record Of The Week’ just about everywhere too.

All we know is that The Pad are pumped to have them for a show and think they could be one of the most important bands to pass through Bedford in a long, long time – Don’t sleep on this show would be our advice!
