The Bedford Writing Competition is looking for budding writers and poets to submit their work to be published and to also win a prize!
The organisation is a not for profit group who want to encourage and promote literacy and also enhance Bedford’s rich culture, hence why they started this competition to find the best of Bedford’s writers!
If you are a writer you can enter a short story of up to 3,000 words on any theme and the first prize will win £200, 2nd prize £100 and 3rd prize £50, also prize winners and those shortlisted will be published in an anthology. This year’s Judge is Toby Litt who is an author of several published novels and short story collections.
Poets need to submit poems up to 40 lines again on any theme and will have the same prizes as the writing competition and shortlisted poems will be published in an anthology. Judging duties will be performed by local poet Ian McEwan whose poems have been published in several magazines as well as producing his own work in The Stammering Man and Intermittent Beings
