“I am proud to be an ambassador for Macmillan Cancer Support and to have this opportunity to raise money for their invaluable work. It’s been a strange year, in which I have seen the death of my hero David Bowie from cancer; the same disease that took my grandad, my aunt, my husband’s uncle, my friend’s husband… real people. Like so many misfits, I idolised Bowie from a young age and losing him to such a human condition – when he should have spontaneously combusted or something equally dramatic – made me want to do something special in his honour this World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

So the gorgeous folks at 44 Harpur Street: The Business Parlour are letting me throw open their doors on Friday 30th September for a Vinyl Party. Just like a regular WBCM event, all are welcome and encouraged to bring sweet things to share (cake, cookies, whether you bake them yourself or buy them) plus we are inviting guests to bring a record too. Music is a huge part of my life and sharing music is a wonderful thing. We will have a record player so bring whatever you want to play and we will give it a spin.

44 Harpur Street are providing teas and coffees but, if you would like to bring a bottle instead, that is fine. The event starts at 4pm and ends when the dancing stops. Pop in on the way home from work or come out and spend the evening with us. Most importantly, bring money! We want to raise loads for Macmillan and every single penny will go straight to them.”

On a Bedford specific note, thanks to 44 Harpur Street for donating the space, Jason Kahl Designs for designing our poster and artwork free of charge, and Paul at Mailboxes Etc in town, who is donating the posters. What a fab creative and generous community!
