Local photographer – ‘Swan Man’, Darren Rose of Winter Rose Photography, snapped this stunner of a shot at Bedford Kite Festival.
Darren tells us more about the dreamy shot.
How was Bedford Kite Festival, fun?
Darren: We were looking for something relaxing to do with our 2 young daughters, so we packed a picnic and headed to the Bedford International Kite Festival. We love Russell Park (and the Kiosk serves great coffee) so what could be better than an afternoon in the sun, watching kites fly?! I’m no kite aficionado, so no idea if the weather was good for flying, but everyone seemed to be having fun and enjoying the displays. Although, I’m gutted that I missed the Batman kite go up.
How did you capture this shot?
Darren: I never leave home without my trusty Fuji Camera, but made sure I packed my zoom lens for the day. Once I saw how dramatic the clouds were, I already had a composition in mind, wanting to capture a single kite against a big sky. It was then just a case of waiting for the right moment.
How would you describe your style of photography?
Darren: I’m predominantly a landscape photographer, so I really enjoyed the wonderful clouds that were acting as dramatic backdrop to the kites flying.
