Give a Statue a Voice  – Get your word heard on the street!

A free public writing workshop for people of all ages

When? Saturday 13 May from 10am to 12 noon

Where? Bedford Central Library

Join Matt Berry and Al Murray and Toby Litt and get your word heard on the street!

It’s all part of Talking Statues Bedford, a new arts installation which sees statues across Bedford, given the gift of speech.

Pass a Talking Statue, swipe your phone on a nearby sign and hear Al Murray as Reflections of Bedford or Matt Berry as John Bunyan.  However, two Bedford statues await the gift of speech . But what do they have to say for themselves  – are you the one to tell us in 350 words?

This free public writing workshop is led by Lifebox Theatre.  It’s for people of all ages and abilities (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult). You’ll learn about Talking Statue Bedford and will discover some of  the monologues behind the project.  Then you’ll learn how to create your own monologue.

You’ll be invited to submit your piece a public writing competition . The two  winning pieces will be recorded by professional actors and included as part of  Talking Statues Bedford.
