BedPop Record Shop at the Higgins
Is there no stopping those BPRS boys? This month sees them popping up once again on Castle Lane, this time at the Higgins for another day of vinyl, DJs and live music. “We’re really excited about heading to the Higgins on Saturday 17th June,” said BPRS organiser, Alan Cooley. “We’ll have traders in the Barbican Room and also outside in the courtyard, where the music stage will be set up.” Support for the event comes from Charles Wells and more information can be found at bedpop.co.uk

Mesmerising words and atmospheric music combine in this collaboration between Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy, and musician, John Sampson.
Together, the pair bring an hour of light and shade, laughter and reflection to The Quarry Theatre. Carol Ann will read from her acclaimed collections. Lucid, honest and accessible, her writing explores both everyday experience and our inner worlds in deceptively simple, profoundly resonant poems. John will take us on a virtuoso tour through musical highlights of the past 500 years, played on a fascinating collection of instruments.

Commissioned by Bedford Creative Arts, Dance-Tech innovators Pell Ensemble bring their iconic new show ‘David’ to The University of Bedfordshire Theatre Studio on June 5th and 6th. Pell Ensemble invites you into the world of EPOQ: a place of where your data becomes a Lived Experience™. Using your mobile phone, you will interact with David, shaping David’s movements and the projections and sound around both you and David. Only with your input can David become truly human.

June Arts Jam is back!
Full House Theatre are back in Bedford this summer with their jam-packed children’s arts festival: June Arts Jam. From 4th – 24th June there will be even more performances and activities for children and their families to enjoy in Bedford.
Having travelled the country to hand pick the best of the UK’s children’s theatre, Full House have selected a range of performances to bring to Bedford’s cultural and community spaces, with something to surprise, delight and enchant everyone, from the very young with One Little Word at Bedford Central Library, to young and old alike in a magical and musical take on The Elves and The Shoemaker at The Place Theatre. The Indian subcontinent will be coming to the John Bunyan Museum with the legends of The Tales of Birbal, whilst St Cuthbert’s Hall will host the hilarious and poignant Happily Ever After, based on the story ‘King & King’ by Linda De Haan and Stern Nijland. Families will enjoy wide-eyed wondering with innovative immersive audio performance Day Dreamers in the ground of The Higgins, and families can expect drama and fun in TWENTYSEVENTEEN, a unique performance created by young people from Ridgeway School at Trinity Arts & Leisure.
Many of the events at June Arts Jam are offered for free, others for as little as £4. The festival is supported by Arts Council England and the Harpur Trust.

Junior Jungle is bringing the biggest, bestest family rave on the planet to the Empire Bedford this month and we can’t wait!
DJ Nick Terrific and MC Rocky Patch will be in the house on Saturday June 17th from 2pm – 4pm and there will be more music, more dancing, more hazers, more lasers, more face painting, and more party than you can shake a jungle stick at.
Advance ticket price is £8/child and includes entry for one adult for free. Ticket price includes jungle animal masks for all tiny dancers, healthy sugar-free icepop and free glo sticks.
All adults must be accompanied by a Junior Junglist, a Little Monkey or a Tiny Dancer and ravers are welcome to bring their own kids’ food and drink (although no nuts, please!).

HN Photography Students from Bedford College will be exhibiting at The Gallery, Bromham Mill from Friday 9th June. The gallery will be open throughout the day from 11am-3pm and school visits are welcome. At 7pm, Paul Ives (a Fellow of the British Institute of Professional Photography) will be doing a talk on underwater photography.
From 10th June onwards the gallery is open to the public and the exhibition will be on general view for the following few weeks.

Father’s Day at Wrest Park
If you’re looking for some father’s day inspiration, why not spend a day out with dad at the Father’s Day Pit Stop on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June.. Visitors can rev their engines for some wheel-y good fun and interactive family-friendly shows on the history of motor sport through the ages.
Bedford Tour Guides
Every Sunday at 11am, Bedford’s Tour Guides lift the lid on the history of the town during their popular walking tours. Their fascinating roster of walks includes WWII Bedford, the Life of John Bunyan, the Rise and Fall of Bedford Castle and a tour of the River Great Ouse entitled the Jewel in the Crown.
