#bedfordindies: St Cuthbert’s Arcade to launch

26 St Cuthbert’s Street, Bedford MK40 3JG

The excitement is mounting as 1 June sees the launch of St Cuthbert’s Arcade, a unique one-stop-shop of 18 independent small businesses all under one roof – and we can’t wait!

Following extensive renovations and repairs, the building work is now complete and the new tenants are beginning to move in. These include The Secret Garden (pre-loved children’s clothes), Evie & Lola (macarons and creative workshops), Made in Bedford (showcasing the town’s amazing artists, designers and makers), the Jazz Man barbershop, Charlene Hair & Beauty, ArloArts (paper flowers) and Pádraigín Handmade.  Two thirds of the units are now let including the coffee shop.

The Arcade is the latest business to open on St Cuthbert’s Street, following the relocation of Bears & Tales and the launch of Vanilla Tree. The area is a hub of independent shops and restaurants including the Blue Glass, Herd, Mamma Mia, Roosters, epanoui and GCH fishmongers.  With over 12 independent businesses either opening, expanding or relocating in the last year, St Cuthbert’s Arcade will bring the tally of new #bedfordindies in the town to over 30. This is an incredible achievement for Bedford and shows that with creativity and passion, town centres can evolve, adapt and thrive.
