#bedfordindies: Treat Street

Riverside Bedford, Bedford MK40 1NY

Bedford, a town of markets and – more recently – dessert bars.

The newest addition to the sector is 24 year old Sanj Chandi’s venture, Treat Street, which recently opened beneath Vue Cinema as part of the Riverside Bedford development. This is Sanj’s first business venture following seven years working at Nando’s. “I love the buzz of working in hospitality,” said Sanj “And I also love desserts! Three years’ ago, when I first came up with the concept, dessert restaurants were fairly unique. I am confident that our prime location, plus the range of desserts that we offer will stand us out from the crowd.”

Polite, professional and determined to succeed, Sanj began working on the Treat Street idea when he was just 21.  “I knew that location was key and it took a while to find a landlord willing to work with someone so young,” said Sanj.  “We’re really pleased to have found somewhere so local [he’s from Milton Keynes] and the Vue cinema is a great anchor for this development.”

With 28 ice cream flavours, plus spaghetti ice (“I saw it in Germany and knew we had to have it!”) and ice cream rolls (“Check out our FB live films; anything that can be crushed can be made into ice cream!”) there is certainly lots on the menu to tempt those with a sweet tooth.  Treat Street also has an alcohol license and serves Brooklyn Beer, the perfect accompaniment to the New York themed décor.
