HR (Human Rights) – Founder and Vocalist from BAD BRAINS
Sunday 11 August, doors at 7.30pm
Bedford Esquires
Tickets £18 advance
The word ‘Legend’ gets thrown around far too often these days, but this booking brings Esquires exactly that, with Human Rights, with the founder and current vocalist of US hardcore punk band Bad Brains stopping off at Esquires for a rare and intimate UK show.  His solo material tends to be less punk and more reggae than Bad Brains punk/metal sound but he also explores rock and other musical genres.   Whilst his wildly aggressive stage performances of earlier years may have mellowed, you can expect an evening of reggae and rhythm guitar from a true icon.

Sarpa Salpa + Phantom Isle + The Courts
Friday 16 August

Bedford Esquires
Tickets: £5
A high summer special at Esquires as Sarpa Salpa return to the venue in support of their upcoming single “Before It Goes Dark”

The guys were last seen gracing the venue back in January as part of Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music visit to Esquires as part of Independent Venue Week. Their single at the time ‘Casanova’ picked up plays on 6 Music then a month later became BBC Introducing ‘Single of the Week’ on Radio 1 picking up plays on every show across the station.

Black Mekon & Cherry Pickles
Sunday 18th August
Bedford Esquires
Tickets are £7 in advance
KMP Bedford are proud to present a double bill of two of the UK’s finest garage rock outfits, Black Mekon and Cherry Pickles at Bedford Esquires.
Black Mekon play raw gutter blues and have shared the stage with the likes of Jon Spencer, Kid Congo Powers (ex Cramps, Bad Seeds, Gun Club), Guitar Wolf and many more. With a bagful of albums and 7 inches under their belt including their incredibly ambitious 45 Consortium singles club (which featured splits with Bob Log II, and others) they are about to unleash their latest long player Destroy Nostalgia on PNKSLM Recordings, 10 songs lamenting/urging the death of the past.
Joining Black Mekon will be 2 piece partners in crime Cherry Pickles. Priscila B and Mimi B bonded over a mutual love of 50s malt-shop-pop, 60s minimalist garage, no wave, fuzz and all forms of outsider art, alongside other sounds such as Priscila’s native Tropicalia and Mimi’s stripped down drumming. Cherry Pickles’ debut LP Cherry Pickles Will Harden Your Nipples was released on April 5th 2019 via PNKSLM Recordings following the band’s storming US debut at SXSW.
