Best of Bedford: Natasha Trudgill

This month’s Best of Bedford features Natasha Trudgill of the Secret Garden in St Cuthbert’s Arcade.

Her shop sells pre-loved children’s wear and is a treasure trove of unique finds, great brands and amazing bargains.  This month, the Arcade is holding a pop-up party on Saturday 11 May.  You can read more about it on page xx.  For now, over to you, Natasha…

Name: Natasha Trudgill

Occupation:  Owner of The Secret Garden

Born here or blown in: Born and bred

Best Thing in Bedford: Hands down – our beautiful embankment!

Best Place for a coffee or a cuppa: In the summer it’s got to be The Longholme. It’s a lovely spot on the river, while in the colder months Coffee with Art features high on my list!

Best Breakfast: Eggs Benedict every time 😋 and I recommend The Albero Lounge for this – they do a fab breakfast menu and it’s lovely in there too!

One place you would recommend for visitors: If you are around in the evening it would have to be Bears & Tales on St Cuthbert’s Street, they do the most amazing cocktails!

Cocktails at Bears and Tales

Ever read Pilgrims Progress? I’m afraid not, although having been through school in Bedford I am pretty well informed on the man himself [John Bunyan].

Bedford’s Best Boozer: Oooh that’s a tricky one!! I’m a massive fan of the public house and it’s very difficult to choose my fave!   I’ll give you my joint favourites which are The Devonshire Arms and The Gordon Arms in Castle Road. Friendly landlords, good wine and in stumbling distance of my house.

Best Bedfordian: It’s Ronnie Barker for me … what a legend!

Ever eaten a Bedfordshire Clanger? Of-bloomin-course!

Three words that sum up Bedford: Full of surprises!
