International Women’s Day 2020 – Sunday 8 March

Tribute to Women Performance Showcase
The Place Theatre at 7.30pm

As part of their fundraising for Bedford’s first statue of a female, the Women of Bedford group are holding a performance showcase at the Place Theatre.  Featuring performances by and about women, confirmed acts so far include My Girl the River and Matt Hopwood reading from his book, Mother: a human love story. Women, men, children, teenagers and centenarians tell their experiences of childhood, motherhood, birth, loss, yearning, fear, contentment, love and divinity. They tell of connection with Mother and the Mother instincts that reside in every human being.

Feline Assembly presents: Feline Soul
Herd, St Cuthbert’s Street at 1.30pm – 7pm
Smooth Sundays at Herd have a reputation of bringing together delicious roasts with a laid-back atmosphere that set you up for the coming week.  Feline Assembly will be presenting an afternoon of Feline Soul, an all-female line up that will stir your emotions to a soulful beat. From the beautiful tones of DIYA , through to the strictly vinyl DJs Nerys, Nicola, Sherry, Sue and Emma.

Parity
Herd, St Cuthbert’s Street from 7pm
Four incredible female DJs will be gracing the decks at Herd as part of their Parity party for International Women’s Day.

DJ Tunesmith is a Hackney-based DJ/Producer, regularly playing to crowds at The Groucho Club, Ronnie Scott’s and The Ace Hotel. She plays a strictly vinyl set and you’ll hear groove-laden beats encompassing funk, hip hop, jazz, soul, disco, broken beat and boogie.

Miss KG’s love of music led her to begin DJing in 2014. She has two releases under her belt and a monthly radio show on D3DP Radio Network.

Tashizm had a love for house music from a very young age. Her sounds range from soulful house to the deeper sides of tech and tribal but her love of the low riding bass lines come through in her music.

Finally, Miss Soxee will take you on a musical journey through jazz, funk, soul, disco, broken beat and house. She first began DJing 11 years ago and she is a firm believer of letting her music selection speak for itself.
