Life after Lockdown – Carrie Rainbow from Otter and Moose

Whilst we all take heed to social distancing measures we can’t help but imagine our first day without ‘lockdown’.

We’d love to hear your views on what you are missing most in the Borough?  Please complete this very quick survey so when we come out the other side, we can all celebrate these wonderful places.

Today it’s Carrie from Otter and Moose who specialise in curated gift boxes for all occasions, filled with beautiful, hand made items from carefully chosen British suppliers. Based in Bedford they are making it their mission to source the very best handmade products from our county and the surrounding area. They have a range of ‘Bedfordshire Boxes’ which contain only items from makers in our lovely county, but wthey also stock a range of products from other small UK businesses.

They are still open and posting orders and you can order here.

Which restaurant will you go to first?
Pizzeria Santaniello – I love the informality of the place and I’m really craving a calzone right now!

Where will you buy your first pint?
The Park – I walk past it every day and can’t wait to go back inside.

Where will you buy your first coffee?
No question about this one – Fay’s at Star Rowing Club. OK, I’m biased as I row there; but the coffee, cake and staff are all wonderful and the view of the river is fantastic.

Which shop will you head to first and what will you buy?
I must confess to a slight obsession with having a wander around Homesense so that’s where I’ll be heading.

Where will you go on your first out of town trip?
For some reason I really want to see the sea, so maybe Southwold for the day with fish and chips on the seafront.

Where will your first walk be?
We’re lucky to live near beautiful Bedford Park but I’d really like to just walk freely through Bedford and along the Embankment again.

What’s the main thing you have missed? e.g live music, pubs, eating out, cinema, exercise etc
Just relaxing with friends and having a coffee and a chat  – it’s not quite the same on Zoom!

First sporting or outdoor activity (to watch or participate in)?
Definitely a row at Star Rowing Club.  You can’t beat a summer evening row with good friends.

Three words to sum up Bedford
Generous, caring and underrated.

Don’t forget to tell us what you are going to do after lockdown – the survey is very quick.

Stay safe everyone
